Coach Holmes is currently in his 17th year of coaching and completing his 9th season a member of the Beach Elite Staff. He attended Redondo Union and while there was a three-year Varsity captain, 2 time all league player. After high school, Coach Holmes received a basketball scholarship to attend Azusa Pacific University. He played 3 years at APU before sustaining a serious knee injury, which caused him to step away from the game and focus on his education.
Coach Holmes obtained his Bachelor′s of Science Degree in Marketing and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration during his time at Azusa Pacific University.
Holmes' coaching philosophy centers around three core principles of commitment, selflessness and team unity. "First and most importantly, players need to be committed to your system. Commitment starts with the right mindset, which should be believing in what you are doing, doing their job and being a great teammate."
Shamburg, a lifetime resident of the South Bay, has been coaching Youth basketball for over 15 years. An alumni of Mira Costa High School, Coach Shamburg played 2 years of Varsity, being named to the Pacific Shores All-Tournament team his senior year. Coach Jason went on to play at Harbor
College in Los Angeles, CA., before starting a family and settling down in Redondo Beach, CA.
Jason serves as a coach for Beach Elite, he is also their Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Incorporating calisthenics, plyometrics, and various age appropriate strength movements. Coach Shamburg continually finds ways to get our kids out of their comfort zone both mentally and physically - ingraining in them that when you do not give up, you cannot fail.
Coach Rodriguez is a lifetime resident of the South Bay, and has been coaching youth recreation and club basketball for the past 10 years, was a multiple sport high school athlete, playing both baseball, and basketball at nearby North Torrance High School.
Coach Rodriguez philosophies, and focus center around defense. With the thought in mind that if you can stop opponents from scoring as a team, then you will always give yourself a chance to be successful. Defense is about effort, commitment, hard work, team communication and chemistry which is the message every practice, and every game to the entire program.
Offensive teachings, and focus also revolve around the idea of each player playing the game instinctively that will allow for future success at the higher levels.
Coach Kwan, A Redondo Beach resident for over 20 years, and coached youth basketball for a s many, had previously played multi-sports in HS to include basketball, as well as being a professional snow skier, a US Army Veteran and a successful entrepreneur.
Coach Kwan provides not only skills development training, but emphasizes on fundamentals, mechanics, and most importantly, mental teachings to promote confidence with in turn develops not only good student athletes, but overall good citizens.
